  1. This episode is just fantastic. Everything comes together in a slow build of unity until, as one, the Knights decide they've had enough and just start massacring quasi-friend and hated foe alike. Clearly the new plan for battle is to point Cynrain at the enemy, and then just wait for the inevitable conclusion.

David, what do you use for background music and sound effects by the way? It really does a wonderful job of setting the mood of the scene.

    1. It really was great, and yes, Cynrain is turning into a real buzzsaw!

For music, I have a playlist I put on shuffle that consists of two video game soundtracks (Crusader Kings II and Knights of Honor), some actual medieval music, and a Baltic folk band called Rondellus covering Black Sabbath songs in a medieval vein. It's about three or four hours of music, all told. Sound effects are courtesy of the DMDJ app, though I didn't use it in this session, since I was lacking a co-GM and hopped up on a bit of pain meds--decided to keep things simple.

  2. Thought I'd let you know that Jake isn't the only one who enjoys your recordings! Was disappointed when I found out I had caught up with you and there was no more Pendragon to listen to. This seems like a really unique system, with a very historical emphasis, as well as emphasis on random elements and things that take place away from the camera. What do you guys think of it overall, and have you played it much before?

    1. Hey, thanks! It's always gratifying to hear from listeners. We'll be playing on a weekly schedule, so you won't have long to wait for the next update. And there will be many more where that came from--there's still around 75 game years to play through. We're in this one for the long haul!

Pendragon is one of my all-time favorite games, and a big part of that is the mechanics. I love a game that challenges me as a GM by throwing weird curve-balls my way during play, and Pendragon does that in spades. And yeah, the little games-within-games, like the Winter Phase or manorial management, are tremendously appealing for reasons I can't quite explain.

I've been playing and running the game regularly since 2006, and this is actually my second time running the Great Pendragon Campaign. The first time was a one-on-one venture with my wife Desiree, which is why she's co-GMing this time around. :)

  3. I recently discovered your podcast and am having a great time listening. I bought 5.1 last night and am drumming up interest with my group to give it a try. Keep up the great work.

Ps. Are the feast cards still coming per the resources page?

    1. Glad you're enjoying the series so far!

As for the feast cards, I've been waiting on a fan of the podcast to complete a revision of the cards--he's about two-thirds of the way through, but had to put the project on the backburner when he got a new job. I should probably just put up the current version, as funky as it is. But the new cards...they look swank. So I'm torn.
